The ceramics sector in Portugal is made up of more than 1139 companies, 18,000 workers and stands out internationally as the world's 13th largest exporter. Facing competition from China, Italy and Spain, it stands out for its design, quality and sustainability.

With very intense energy consumption, and with gas and electricity accounting for a significant part of costs, decarbonization is an opportunity for companies in the sector to become more competitive in the markets where they operate.

This study shows how the ceramics sector is becoming more competitive by decarbonizing its production processes.

Helexia and the Ceramics Sector

Helexia is already contributing to this energy transition by supporting eight major companies in the ceramics sector in Portugal, helping to decarbonize the sector.

Helexia's solar self-consumption projects have already generated 21 GWh of clean energy and avoided 9800 tons of CO2.

This case study is aimed at maintenance and operations directors, engineering teams, financial directors, sustainability directors and anyone interested in decarbonization and sustainability.
